Folic Acid contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy, and increases maternal folate status. Low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus.
The UK Department of Health recommends that all women planning a pregnancy should supplement with 400μg Folic Acid daily when trying to conceive and for the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Each tablet will provide a full 400mcg folic acid.
